A Series of Music: An Introduction
Welcome the A Series of Music newsletter.
I’d like to briefly introduce myself, my name is Nick, and I’m a musician, sound engineer, artist, tech nerd, father, and co-founder of A Series of Music Society.
A few months ago I began planning a small coffee shop gig with my band. We didn’t think there would be much interest, as we hadn’t played a gig as a band in years. Our expectations were low. We just wanted to go out and make some noise. We soon discovered there was a hunger for live music we’d never really seen or experienced before.
It sparked in us a desire to see feed that hunger and bring others along for the ride.
A Series of Music Society was born.
We want to build a society of music. Music is universal. It brings people together. It moves us to tears, to dancing, to laughter, to anger, to serenity. Music is food for the soul.
Build a society of music what do you mean by that? It means connecting musicians with opportunities to play live, and to encourage them to grow and develop their skills both in recording and creating their music. It means connecting the audience with chances to come out and support local musicians.
Here are our dreams:
We’re building a list of artists that want to play and finding venues both big and small to play our songs in.
This is our big dream: we want to build an Okanagan music hub with recording studio spaces, practice spaces, teaching spaces, and performance areas for both live music and online streaming. We want it to be an affordable place for musicians to come and hone their art and have fun doing it.
I won’t pretend to have all the answers. I’m just a guy with a guitar and a computer who has a desire to help others grow. Together we grow, together we thrive.
Let’s journey together, working towards a society of music.
